This day combines two sides of Abu Dhabi: culture and architecture at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, and adrenaline at Ferrari World theme park on Yas Island. The ticket includes pickup and drop-off from your hotel in Dubai, an air-conditioned vehicle, entry to the mosque, an entry ticket to the park and a bottle of water.
The mosque is one of the best-known sites in the UAE. You admire the white marble domes, the intricate carvings and the vast prayer halls, and learn about the history and design that blend traditional Islamic architecture with modern influences. Entry to the mosque is included in the ticket.
Visiting hours at the mosque: every day from 9:00 AM to 8:30 PM, and on Fridays in two sessions, 9:00 to 11:30 AM and 2:30 to 8:30 PM. On Islamic holidays and during Ramadan the hours change, and visitor entry is not guaranteed on holidays. The Friday break matters for planning, because it affects the day's schedule.
The dress code at the mosque is strict, and worth noting. Long, loose, ankle-length clothing is required for women and men, and women must wear a headscarf. Men need clothing that covers the legs fully, and no sheer, tight or sleeveless tops. It is best to avoid bright colours and slogans. If the clothing is not suitable, you may not be allowed in.
The second part is Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. It is a park with more than 40 attractions, family sections and a children's area. Formula Rossa, the park's famous roller coaster, is currently closed for maintenance until further notice. So do not travel expecting to ride it; check what is open on the day of your visit.
Operational details: the exact pickup time is given one day before the tour. The park entry tickets are handed over by the team at the venue. Food and drinks are not included, apart from the bottle of water.
Who can take part? The ticket has an adult type for ages 4 to 99 and a child type for ages 0 to 3. In practice, young children can join, but the mosque's conditions and the length of the day may be hard for them.
Cancellation: the ticket is non-cancellable and non-refundable once confirmed. Choose a date you are sure about, and check that the park is open on your chosen day and that it is not a Friday morning, when mosque entry is limited.
Who is it for? Families with children and teenagers, and couples who want to see Abu Dhabi in one day without driving. It is a long day with two sites that are very different from each other, so come with comfortable shoes, clothes that suit both the mosque and the park, and a change of clothes.
The mosque's hours are its own opening hours, not the tour schedule. On every day except Friday, the last entry to the mosque is at 20:00. On Friday, the last entry in the morning is at 11:00, and in the afternoon it is at 20:00.
The dress code at the mosque is more detailed: women also need sleeves down to the wrist and full hair coverage, and it is best to avoid excessive jewellery and heavy make-up. Before entering, you go through a security check, with separate lanes for women and men. The site has restrooms for men and women. Children are welcome, but must stay under their parents' close supervision throughout the visit.
The mosque has wheelchairs for people with disabilities and for older visitors, and you ask the security staff for them. There are also small vehicles that carry visitors between the parking lots and the starting point of the tour.
Ferrari World is on Yas Island, the entertainment hub of the UAE capital. It is a fully air-conditioned indoor park, linked to Yas Mall. Among the fast rides: on Flying Aces you climb 63 metres at a 51-degree incline and reach speeds of up to 120 kilometres per hour. On Turbo Track you are shot 64 metres into the air, through the park's red roof, at 102 kilometres per hour. On Fiorano GT Challenge you race on two parallel tracks in Ferrari F430 Spider cars, at speeds of up to 95 kilometres per hour.
There are smaller rides for children. Formula Rossa Junior is a miniature version of Formula Rossa, and the minimum height on it is 90 centimetres. On Speed of Magic, a 4D experience, the minimum height is 100 centimetres. Flying Wings gives the feeling of gliding in a glider, and Turbo Tower is a small version of Turbo Track, with a tower 13.5 metres high and a view over the whole park. On both, the minimum height is 105 centimetres.
There are also attractions of a different kind. Viaggio in Italia is a flying theatre inspired by the Mille Miglia race, and the minimum height on it is 100 centimetres. Driving With the Champion is a driving simulator through the Fiorano racetrack and the streets of Maranello, from a height of 107 centimetres. Made in Maranello is a virtual tour of the Ferrari factory in Maranello, ending in a simulated test on the Fiorano circuit, from a height of 120 centimetres.
On the Plaza level of the park, in the entrance area, there are lockers and a stroller rental counter. The prayer rooms are on the same level, and baby changing and feeding facilities are on the Plaza and mezzanine levels. You can also rent a wheelchair. There is a range of thrill levels and accessibility options, and some attractions are open to all.
The park asks all guests to wear respectful clothing, and recommends covered shoulders and shorts that cover the knees. Inside there is a range of food options, from grab-and-go snacks to sit-down meals.
