About the hotel

Palace Downtown is a five-star hotel in Downtown Dubai, with traditional Arabic design, and part of the Address Hotels + Resorts brand. It sits on the shore of the Burj Khalifa Lake, on Old Town Island, within walking distance of Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall and Dubai Opera. The architecture is in an arabesque style, and the hotel combines traditional design with the comfort of a modern hotel.

What sets it apart is its location on the lake. According to the hotel website, some rooms, balconies and restaurants offer views of Burj Khalifa, the lake and the Dubai Fountain. Anyone who wants to watch the fountain show without being squeezed among the crowd on the promenade can sit on the Thiptara terrace or in the Al Bayt lounge and watch from there.

All the standard rooms are 51 sqm, with Arabic design in blue tones, and fit up to 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 children up to age 12. The difference between them is the view, lake or fountain, and the bed type: king or two separate beds. A couple will feel comfortable in any of them. A family of four with older children will benefit more from the Palace Suite Fountain View, a 105 sqm suite with a separate living room and guest services.

The outdoor pool is 25 meters long, surrounded by palm trees and facing Burj Khalifa, with a separate kids' pool and the Buhayra Lounge next to it. In the evening the area takes on a One Thousand and One Nights atmosphere, with music and lighting. The spa, The Spa Longevity, includes 9 treatment rooms, two oriental hammams with hammam stone, steam rooms and a jacuzzi, and it's also open to non-hotel guests. The women's spa is on the 2nd floor and the men's spa is on the 1st floor.

The main restaurant is Thiptara, a Thai restaurant on the lakeshore, with a terrace facing the fountain, a bar, and Saturday brunch. It has a vegetarian and vegan menu, and the dress code is smart casual. Al Bayt is the lobby lounge, known for its afternoon tea, and the Buhayra Lounge by the pool serves mezze and shisha until 2:00 AM. The hotel's Ewaan restaurant, its Ottoman-cuisine restaurant, appears on the website as temporarily closed (checked 27.9.2026).

The downsides: there's no beach, and no kids' club. The hotel isn't directly connected to Dubai Mall, and according to the website, the mall is within walking distance. The food selection inside the hotel is also limited: currently one restaurant and two lounges are operating. Anyone looking for a quiet hotel on the lake, with a separate spa for women and men and a fountain view, will find it here. Anyone wanting a beach vacation and children's activities will feel it's lacking.
