MOTIONGATE Dubai
A theme park inspired by Hollywood films, with roller coasters and rides from DreamWorks, Columbia and Lionsgate. Reopening on 7 October 2026.

MOTIONGATE is a film-inspired amusement park in the Dubai Parks and Resorts complex. The park is built around Hollywood studios: DreamWorks Animation, Columbia Pictures and Lionsgate, with rides based on their films. MOTIONGATE Dubai is the largest Hollywood-inspired amusement park in the Middle East.
It has roller coasters, action rides and shows, among them the John Wick Open Contract roller coaster. Some rides suit younger children, and others suit teenagers and adults after a thrill.
The park is divided into five worlds. The DreamWorks zone has four indoor areas, based on the films Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, Madagascar and Shrek. There you fly alongside Toothless on Dragon Gliders, join the Furious Five on Kung Fu Panda Unstoppable Awesomeness, and escape with the Madagascar animals on Madagascar Mad Pursuit.
The Lionsgate zone holds the big roller coasters: John Wick, a flying 4D coaster, and Now You See Me: High Roller, which the park says is the fastest spinning roller coaster in the world. The Hunger Games world is there too, with Capitol Bullet Train and Panem Aerial Tour.
The Columbia Pictures zone has seven rides, among them a battle with the Ghostbusters and a ride based on the film Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Smurfs Village has five family attractions, such as the Smurfberry Factory. Studio Central, designed like the streets of New York, has film sets and shows.
It suits families with older children and teenagers. Families with small children will also like LEGOLAND, in the same complex. The park also has 2 toddler play areas, 7 restaurants and 15 souvenir shops.
The complex had been closed since March 2026 and reopens on 7 October 2026.

When to go
A large part of MOTIONGATE is outdoors, so the comfortable months are between October and April. The DreamWorks zones are indoors, and they are a good place for the hot hours in the middle of the day. From 7.10.2026 the park is open Sunday to Thursday 11:00–20:00, and Friday and Saturday 11:00–21:00. The hours change through the year, and we will confirm the hours for your date with you at the time of booking.
Getting there
- The park is in the Dubai Parks and Resorts complex in Jebel Ali, next to Sheikh Zayed Road between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
- RTA bus: runs from Ibn Battuta metro station to Dubai Parks and Resorts, 26 trips a day, from 7:00 to 23:15.
- Taxi, Careem or Uber: ask for Dubai Parks and Resorts. The taxi and bus stand is next to Riverland, at the entrance to the complex.
- Private car: parking is free for all visitors to the complex, and there is valet for an extra charge.
Good to know
- The complex reopens on 7.10.2026 after a closure of more than six months.
- Some rides have height restrictions, and it is worth knowing them in advance if you come with children.
- For example: Panem Aerial Tour from 100 cm, Penguin Air and Kung Fu Panda from 105 cm. On the children's rides the minimum is lower.
- A hat, sunscreen and comfortable shoes — much of the park is outdoors.
- The park has one water ride. If you plan to go on it, bring a change of clothes.
- MOTIONGATE, LEGOLAND and LEGOLAND Water Park each need their own ticket.
- Bring a passport or ID.
