The Dubai Marina zipline is one of the most thrilling experiences in the city: you set off from the Amwaj Towers at a height of about 170 metres and ride along a one-kilometre line above the Marina, and you can reach speeds of up to 80 km/h.

You fly lying on your stomach, like a superhero, with the yachts, the water and the modern buildings around the Marina spread out below. Two parallel lines let you set off together with a friend or partner on a tandem run and share the rush. You are in the air for a short time, but the view stays with you.

The activity is run by a qualified, globally certified team that carries out daily checks and regular maintenance. Before the flight you get a short briefing and safety gear. Every participant must complete a waiver form at the check-in counter before the activity.

What does the ticket include? The briefing, the safety gear, the flight itself on the one-kilometre line, and professionally edited photos and video of the experience. The photos and video are sent to you by email, usually within 24 to 48 hours. Hotel transfer and food and drinks are not included.

The participation rules matter and are clearly set out in the ticket terms. Participants must be between 12 and 65, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian. A minimum height of 130 cm and a weight between 45 and 100 kg are required, along with good health and no existing or recurring injuries. Participation under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication that impairs judgement is not allowed, nor with serious physical or mental conditions. Smart glasses, for example with a camera, are not allowed during the activity.

These rules exist for safety, so check before booking that every participant meets them. If you are unsure about age, weight or health, ask us before you pay. The final decision is made on site by the team.

On the day you make your own way there, because the hotel transfer is not included in the ticket. At the ticketing counter you show the mobile ticket, fill in the waiver form and go through the briefing. It is worth arriving early enough not to feel rushed.

Each ticket's cancellation terms are shown next to the ticket and on the booking screen, before you pay. It is worth choosing a date with some margin, because weather and wind can affect an activity like this, and in any case check the forecast.

The location is in the Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Beach Residence area. Who is it for? Couples, friends and families with teenagers who want adrenaline and a unique view, and who are comfortable with heights. It also suits first-time visitors to Dubai, because it gives a view of the Marina that is hard to get from anywhere else in the city.

The entrance to the zipline is through Dubai Marina Mall, where the XLine check-in booth is located. From the booth you reach the take-off platform by shuttle. Only participants board the shuttle and go up to the platform. This is the world's longest urban zipline.

You can reach the mall by public transport. On the Metro Red Line, get off at the DMCC station, cross Sheikh Zayed Road on a pedestrian bridge and walk up to about 10 minutes. You can also switch to the tram and ride one stop to the mall station. If you come by car, continue along Sheikh Zayed Road until the signs for the direct exit to the mall's car park.

What you wear matters, both for safety and out of respect for the local culture. Wear comfortable, modest clothing and closed shoes. Skirts, dresses, flip-flops and loose footwear are not allowed. Tie your hair up and leave large accessories at home, such as earrings and bracelets.

After the flight it is worth staying in the area. Marina Walk stretches in front of the mall, a palm-lined path 7 km long beside the Marina waterway. It has cafes and restaurants and a view of the yachts, and entry is free at all hours. The mall itself has a food court and waterfront restaurants.
