Deep Dive Dubai is the world's deepest dive pool. It reaches 60 metres, and a whole sunken city is built at the bottom. Anyone looking to dive in Dubai without heading out to sea, or for a new take on diving in the world's deepest pool, can get into the water here with no experience and no diving certification.

The pool opened in July 2021. According to Guinness World Records, its depth was measured on 27.6.2021 at 60.02 metres, and it was registered as the world's deepest dive pool. It holds 14 million litres of fresh water, the equivalent of six Olympic pools, and it is at least four times larger than any other dive pool, according to the official site.

The building is in Nad Al Sheba, next to Meydan. Its roof is shaped like an oyster, a nod to the Emirates' pearl-diving tradition. The water is heated to 30 degrees and filtered every six hours. 56 underwater cameras and 100 lights illuminate the pool, and there is also a hyperbaric chamber on site with a doctor on call.

The sunken city is the heart of the experience. At different depths you find motorcycles, a car, an ATM, a chess board, a basketball hoop, a foosball table, a treasure chest, a library, arcade games, and even an apartment with a kitchen and a bedroom. Divers move between the rooms and the streets, and take photos beside the objects.

Beginners have several options. Snorkelling, from age 6, means swimming on the surface with an instructor and looking down at the city. The discover dive, from age 10, means diving with an instructor without certification, to a depth of 12 metres. The underwater walk through the sunken city, also from age 10, has you walking on the bottom with a helmet, without swimming and without certification, and you receive a short video.

Certified divers have guided dives to 10, 18 or 30 metres, depending on their certification level. The site is a PADI Five-Star IDC and a GUE Premium centre, and it also runs diving and freediving courses. Friends and family who stay out of the water can watch through 12 large windows, overlooking the top 20 metres of the pool.

It suits anyone who wants to try diving for the first time in a controlled setting, with no waves, no currents and warm water. And experienced divers who want to dive in the world's deepest pool.
