Old Dubai · Families
A family beach resort on Dubai Islands with its own waterpark, a lazy river, four kids' clubs and rooms with bunk beds.
Centara Mirage Beach Resort Dubai is a family resort on the Dubai Islands waterfront (formerly Deira Islands), a joint venture between Thailand's Centara group and Nakheel, the developer behind Palm Jumeirah. It opened on 14 October 2021 — the chain's first hotel in the Gulf — and has 607 rooms and suites themed around Thai and Arabian adventures.
The main reason to pick it is the waterpark attached to the hotel, one of the largest at any Dubai resort: a lazy river, waterslides, a splash play area for younger children and cliff-jumping points, set among palm trees and sun decks. Wooden walkways lead to roughly 15,000 square metres of beach with an infinity pool, an activity pool with floating obstacles, water sports, a towel counter, an ice-cream hut and a beach bar. Waterpark entry is included for hotel guests.
The rooms are family-minded too. Most categories sleep two adults with two children, and the 41-sqm Mirage rooms add bunk beds for the kids alongside the king bed — their Family version takes up to 2 adults and 4 children. Booking a Mirage room also unlocks the Mirage Family Lounge: breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails, with an indoor playground. At the top of the range is a 95-sqm two-bedroom suite with panoramic sea views.
There are four age-specific kids' clubs: Camp Safari for ages 3–9 (10:00–20:00), E-zone for ages 10–16 (9:00–21:00), a Virtual Sports Zone for ages 10+ (11:00–22:00), and the Mirage Family Lounge for ages 3–12 for Mirage guests. Each child is entitled to up to 3 hours a day at the clubs, and children under 3 enter with a guardian. Beyond that there's Candy Spa — a sweets-themed spa for children up to age 10, with treatments and manicures — alongside SPA Cenvaree for adults.
Dining runs from a Thai buffet at Suan Bua, with a dedicated children's buffet corner, to an Argentinian charcoal grill at UNO MAS that requires booking 24 hours ahead. Rooftop Sheesh (8th floor) serves an Arabian-international buffet beside a shisha lounge, and in summer its terrace becomes an air-conditioned Arabian tent. Sands by the pool serves brick-oven pizzas with a DJ most evenings, joined by a beach bar, a lobby café and a bakery. In-room dining runs 24 hours and all venues are halal-friendly.
Worth knowing: the resort sits on Dubai Islands beyond Deira — away from the familiar tourist areas. Downtown and Burj Khalifa are about 21 km away and the nearest metro (Deira City Centre) is 12 km, so without a car or taxis you'll rely on the hotel's paid shuttle. On the other hand, DXB airport is relatively close at about 15.5 km. A damage deposit is collected at check-in and refunded at check-out, subject to a room inspection.
